I really dont understand the obsession of girls with sasuke.

Nightingale • 2 years ago

Just poor writing ngl. Kishimoto always writes his female characters to fall for a dude who saved them, like Karin and Hinata.

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Agreed. All female characters in Naruto suck. They feel like fillers, aka it would be better without them. Whence the resentment - they are waste of time and effort.

Nightingale • 2 years ago

Frr, only gems like Tsunade are an exception. She's a favorite of mine

Tygr • 2 years ago

Which anime is your profile pic from?

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Nah, she's totally dispensable. I vote Kakashi-san for Hokage!

Nightingale • 2 years ago

You've been added to my watchlist

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

even though we disagree about Tsunade! :))

maeple_syrup • 2 years ago

Exept for Hinata. Hinata truly loves and admire Naruto whils Sakura arghhh

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

but is also irrelevant. While boys move on the story, girls are there ... for decoration. Ok, Hinata's quite an ok character (and we respect her for her battle with Pain over Naruto); but the question is: if they are so weak and feminine and shit WHAT ARE THEY DOING BEING NINJA in the first place? It looks stupid. It IS stupid: they go to war and become utter nuisance - everybody has to protect them, they are 1+ task to the main one. And Hinata's voice! It's anime fetish really, and I hate it. Every time I hear anime girl's voice, I cringe. I actually want to slap them in the face ... if only to hear their natural voice.

Black Cat • 2 years ago

yknow what doesn’t have anime girl fetish voice? *whispers* yaoi

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

:))) yep, good one! Still, I do like Naruto, there's a good story, and a good vibe going on here. So ... I've got to tolerate them gals for this ride. :)

Youcanseeme • 2 years ago

I'm late but I agree
I thought tsunade was big shot but then I saw previous hokages and ummmmmmmm why is this weak little girl here

Fishcakes • 2 years ago

Pretty sure that apart from a select few cast, hardly anyone else moves the story regardless of gender. Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Akatsuki. Those guys are pretty much the only ones who moves the story along that it's not even just the girls. Neji? Lee? Kiba? Shino? Shikamaru potentially. Anyone else? I feel like you just did a survivorship bias with that opinion.

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Haha, just read your own comment: EVERYONE you've mentioned is a guy - "Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi, Akatsuki" (I would add Shikamaru, Orochimaru (of course), Kabuto, and don't you dare to forget Jiraya!)!
That's right, no girls there, and no biases.

Fishcakes • 2 years ago

Ironically, no. Jiraya in my eyes is on the same bean as Tsunade and Orochi. The Jiraya was a bit more fleshed out but he was also tied to the sannin for the most part. Kabuto at this point in time is just some recurring villain that's as much of an annoyance as Danzo. Akatsuki is just an entire organization that I don't bother giving gender to, besides the progenitor also has Conan, which is also unfair to state that Akatsuki is almost male. That showcases that there are more males in akatsuki instead of saying akatsuki females don't have a role. apart from team seven, everyone else just falls short of giving significant impact to the plot, and Shikamaru with his iq plays and relationship with his team (that also includes Ino) is a different league of enjoyment.

And interestingly, when you said "EVERYONE" in my comment, it showcases the survivorship bias all the more, since hardly anyone else but the four that I gave move the plot. Quite a very low number amidst hundreds of characters don't you think?

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Ok, dude, if you can't see the irony of contradiction in your own argument, I can't help;
and if you put Jiraya, Naruto's sensei (!!!), on the same level as Tsunade "in your eyes", there's nothing more to discuss.
Everyone allowed an opinion. Let us agree to disagree.

Fishcakes • 2 years ago

You asked who moves the plot the most. Jiraya and Tsunade both got an arc to themselves, then phase out with only side effects here and there. Just cause he's a sensei doesn't make him more of a plot driver. He's a big impact on Naruto but does far less than the four I gave you.

Ill agree to that, but I'll just note that after comparing Gintama's character developments and how they handle character deaths, Naruto became far less impactful in how they handle plot.

Edit in case you missed what I mean: Jiraya is a great character that's no doubt, but the difference between a great character and a plot driver are two different things. Minato and Kushina for the most part are great but they hardly progressed the plot forward.

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Look, buddy, I never asked you "who moved the plot". I never asked you anything.
This is getting scary. Might you have an obsessive disorder of some kind? You probably should address that issue.
Anyway, don't waste my and your own time, watch anime instead of bothering people with your opinion (totally irrelevant in this thread).

Fishcakes • 2 years ago

Arguing in a comment section is one thing, telling someone they have a disorder is another dude. Fair point tho forgot the relevance of your comment. Then again I'd still stand by that thought. He's as relevant as Minato and Kushina as far as I can see.

Now that's on your own terms, I just added an edit and you didn't even have to reply cause I never asked for a response, just correcting myself so as not to be assumed that I don't like Jiraya. I had people in the past episodes that were enjoyable to argue with. You're just terrible at it. Take it as you will

Lord Helix • 1 year ago

Thats why the best female character in Naruto is Orochimaru

chatty doodle • 1 year ago

:))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I can't say I agree with this entirely. But his volatility might be seen as a feminine feature (although the best women I know are reliable and constant, but then again, they don't care "to be women", they are people;) so - yes, if we deam volatility and bitchiness to be a female features, then ok, Orochimaru is a bitch. I love him though.

M.Grey • 2 years ago

almost like they written of real life females that fall over for guys like sasuke

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

I know, dude, right?! They are more and more like that, like a product made in the image of their god - women's magazines.
Well, there's more than one type of women in real life (thank god); and it's a damn pity that Kishimoto sticks to that kawaii-weak-and good for nothing-tsundere-female with high-pitched voice cliché that in reality we despise so freaking much (even while we're having them). That shit is enough to turn a normal guy into gay, just to avoid them bi-tches.

Food Lover • 1 year ago

i don't think u should resent female characters for being poorly written and instead criticize the one who made them like that in the first place...

chatty doodle • 1 year ago

Did I say I resent the characters for being poorly written? I said they are bad. And they are bad, and you seem to agree. So what are you arguing about?
Anyway, to look into the matter (that bother me every time I open a new manga or anime), here some thoughts.
The Japanese tradition of portraying women as useless, at the best ornamental characters, seems to be going way back to the 13th century, with the seizure of power by the samurai class, with their virile values and a profound contempt shown for women. That mentality marked Japanese culture profoundly and had a more lasting effect than the Heian period, for instance, that gave us brilliant literature created by women.
Of course it's Kishimoto's lack of understanding of women or a will to create plausible female heroes, probably in line with Japanese mentality where women are considered secondary characters, with PR and industries working hard on making them ever so further into something totally pink high-pitched voiced stupid dolls. Anime, I'm sorry to say, works hard to maintain that tradition. Look at them girls in mainstream anime, the flagrant exemple of what women "should be like" in Jap's head. Horrifying.
Who's fault is it? Good question. Centuries of a patriarchal tradition, difficult to break in a very rigid culture? Women's passivity and lack of rebellion? Their desire to please and to be liked? The mangaka who write stupid female characters? The society that accept that? For my part, I know I hate that. And I wish women were more aware of the fact that they are treated like shit and protest. Starting with anime, for exemple. Because it's a very good media for brainwashing, and it starts at an early age; so the issue is kind of important.

Food Lover • 1 year ago

you have a point abt long term historical and societal effects. doesn't mean we can't still criticize kishimoto and the anime industry because others have pushed past the mental barriers he didn't take the effort to.
as for me thinking you said you hate the characters for being poorly written, the wording of your comment made me think (very strongly) that's what you meant.

also pls don't passively blame women for the problems they face. it's not fully on women to correct society's issues. other genders (esp the one with more privilege) need to help.

chatty doodle • 1 year ago

Have no idea what it means to " passively blame" someone, but ok...
And what on earth are "other genders"?!
It feels like you've got some ideas in your head about the issue (which is good), but none of them is relevant to what I said (= off the topic).

Food Lover • 1 year ago

"Women's passivity and lack of rebellion? Their desire to please and to be liked?" "And I wish women were more aware of the fact that they are treated like shit and protest." seems like passive-aggressive blaming women for issues affecting women. again, it's a complex issue. you probably could have worded it better.

also, there are more than two genders, you do know that right?

it seems like we are on the same page of this issue, but on different paragraphs, so I'm stopping this discussion from my end because I don't see it going anywhere productive.

chatty doodle • 1 year ago

Yeah, it's good to know when it's a waste of time. I'm sorry I wasted mine.

Naomi~ • 2 years ago

it sounds like you hate female characters more than bad writing

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Aheeeemmm.... how?
I know nothing about KIshimoto's writing. Maybe he did it on purpose :))))))))))))) But then maybe not. Maybe he's just baaaaad at writing females. Then why even bother with them? I can't answer any of these maybes.
What I can do however is to comment on what I can see - the result, aka the characters themselves.
You? Why are you judging me?

Naomi~ • 2 years ago

bc u speak very aggressively abt specifically the female characters, even tsunade who is actually written well. it gives the impression you wouldn't like them even if they were all written well.

chatty doodle • 2 years ago

Please, don't assume shit. You can be as aggressive as you like with me, I don't mind a good argument. What I do mind is baseless assumptions. Stick to the facts. You don't know me, don't go guessing what kind of guy I can be.
And why are you so pissed? We discuss anime characters for fs! It's ok to differ. It's not ok however to judge people whose opinions (and dislikes) differ from yours. If I were you I'd be worried.

Bruh • 2 years ago

Dude, just admit you're gay lmao. And ninja and shinobi usually are male, they would be better fit for the job, aswell as the reason why most of them are the leaders or whatever is thanks to thousands of years of human evolution where males did the strategy work and went to war and fought. Also, in here, women are more "feminine" is because that's how women are, the word feminine literally comes from a woman's nature lmao. You're probably just part of the alphabet gang.

Naomi~ • 2 years ago

You told me not to assume anything, and then proceeded to confirm that I was right. All I have to say is your views and generalization of literally half the planet is disgusting - it doesn't matter if u have favorite authors or celebs that are women, your deep-seated hatred and discriminatory views are something you should either grow up from or deal with in therapy.
this is the worse shit i've ever read in my life.

What conversation? You just wrote an essay on how you hate women for being.... girly. And then generalized all women as prostitutes, and called them bitches. Exactly what conversation are you trying to have? Were you dropped on the head as a kid?

ever heard of kpop. lmao All these jealous fools in the comments

Shoutmon X7 Superior Mode • 2 years ago

I never really cared about Karin but that was a dick move. This made me hate sasuke even more lol, dude is a straight up psychopath. Although it's satisfying to see danzo running for his life like that, I kinda respect him for the fact that he genuinely cared for the village although I highly disagree of his ways.

Food Lover • 1 year ago

someone mentioned that he lost his shit cuz danzo confirmed that he made itachi do a bunch of bad shit, but i feel like that's still no excuse for the dick move....he rly be spiraling deeper than ever...
and danzo's ideals were amazing, but his action was so contradictory to them ya know...

sharmouta313 • 2 years ago

what worse is that she kept on chasing after wtf. girl have some self-respect to yourself

Youcanseeme • 2 years ago

Can't believe I liked danzou at the end...

Xane Foster • 1 year ago

I never liked Danzo but what i liked was the friendship bw Danzo and Sarutobi and representing them as Yin and Yang.
